LINCOLN, Neb. — An Omaha lawyer has been chosen to fill an opening on the Nebraska Appeals Court.

On Monday the office of Gov. Pete Ricketts announced the selection of Lawrence Welch Jr. The opening arose from the retirement of Judge Everett Inbody, of the 5th Appellate Court Judicial District. The district covers 24 counties in southeast Nebraska, excluding Lancaster and Seward counties.

The 51-year-old Welch has specialized in taxation, commercial litigation, trusts and estates, probate and corporate law. He got his law degree from Creighton University.

Welch lives in Beaver Lake.
