Charles F. Waggoner

RADCLIFF, KY.

Charles E. Waggoner, 94, passed away at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Signature Healthcare in Radcliff, Kentucky.

Mr. Waggoner was born November 12, 1923 in Seymour, Indiana, the son of the late Flora and Everett Waggoner.

He married Pauline Fleming on November 21, 1953 in Columbus, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pauline; a sister, Lorraine Hacker; and brothers, Paul and Bob Waggoner.

He was retired from Neffler Appliance Co. in Columbus, where he worked as an Appliance repairman for 25 years.

Charles was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. He served aboard the USS John Coulter, USS Paco, USS James Haviland and the USS Alexander Wilson.

In September 2017, with the help of his niece, Kelly Medley, he traveled to Washington D.C. as an Honor Flight recipient. He said he would never forget this trip.

He was an avid golfer who played golf most every day until he was 85 years old.

He was also a big Indianapolis Colts fan.

He is survived by a loving niece, Pat Heibert of Ekron, Kentucky; nephews, Keith Hacker of Marietta, Georgia and Rick Waggoner of Terre Haute; several great-nieces and -nephews; and loving neighbors, Kelly and Kurt Engelking.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 2 p.m. by Myers-Reed Chapel, 3729 E. 25th St., Columbus. Burial will follow in the Garland Brook Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
