NEW YORK — An off-duty New York Police Department officer has been arrested in connection with a 2016 gunpoint robbery in Brooklyn.

Prosecutors say Anthony Delacruz fired a shot and pistol whipped the victim during the early morning robbery outside a bar in Bushwick. They say he then falsely accused others of robbing him.

The 34-year-old Delacruz was arraigned Wednesday on robbery, assault, menacing and other charges. Information on his lawyer wasn’t immediately available.

He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
