PORTLAND, Ore. — Police say one person died and another was critically injured in a shooting at an apartment complex in northeast Portland.

Sgt. Chris Burley of the Portland Police Bureau says officers from the East Precinct and Gang Enforcement Team responded to reports of gunfire late Tuesday. They provided medical aid to both victims, but one died by the time paramedics arrived.

Police identified the person who died as 18-year-old Kentraveon Hill of Portland.

Police say the other victim, a 17-year-old boy, is in critical condition at a local hospital.

No arrests have been made.

Police spokesman Sgt. Chris Burley says officers don’t believe there to be an immediate danger to the public because the shooting was “a targeted act of violence.”
