JOHNSTOWN, Pa. — Pennsylvania has suspended the medical license of a pediatrician who is charged with inappropriately touching a 12-year-old patient.

The licensing board on Monday ordered Johnstown physician Johnnie Barto to temporarily stop practicing medicine. The 70-year-old was arrested last week on charges including indecent assault.

The accuser says she was assaulted during an appointment in December.

Barto’s attorney did not respond to requests for comment on the charges.

Police say they have received more than 30 phone calls with information regarding allegations of past abuse by Barto.

Barto has offices in both Cambria and Somerset counties.
