CLAYMONT, Del. — Delaware State Police say a Pennsylvania man was robbed and kidnapped at gunpoint in a mall’s parking lot.

Police Master Cpl. Michael Austin says in a Thursday statement the 23-year-old Clifton Heights resident was approached by three men on Jan. 18 in the parking lot of Tri-State Mall in Claymont, Delaware. The statement says the men locked the 23-year-old in his vehicle’s trunk and drove for roughly 30 minutes before he was able to get out.

The man told police the car had stopped for about 5 minutes before the trunk was opened. The men had fled by the time he got out, but the vehicle’s keys were left behind.

A cell phone, cash and jewelry were taken from the 23-year-old.

An investigation is ongoing. Further details were not released.
