WATERLOO, Iowa — A man serving time for violating sex offender registry requirements has died while at the Waterloo Work Release Facility.

The Courier reports that paramedics and police were called to the facility around 8:45 a.m. Thursday after staff found 44-year-old Chad William Polley, of Waterlooo, dead in his bed.

Officials say the cause of death has not been determined, and an autopsy will be conducted at the State Medical Examiner’s Facility in Ankeny. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the death, which is state policy for deaths that occur in state custody.

Polley had been at the work release facility since August 2016.
