Super Saturday has arrived

The Elementary Basketball League basketball and cheerleading championships are today at Columbus East High School.

The Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. girls and boys finals will in the main gym.

Friday’s girls semifinals Southside-Clifty Creek winner will play the Richards-Mt. Healthy winner in today’s 8 a.m. championship game.

Friday’s boys semifinals Smith-Clifty Creek winner will play the Richards-Columbus Signature Academy — Lincoln winner in today’s 9:30 a.m. championship game. Doors open a half hour before each game.

The Southside Mustangs are reigning boys and girls champions.

The cheerleading championships will start at 1 p.m., with the doors opening at 10:30 a.m. The order of competition: Columbus Signature Academy — Fodrea, Taylorsville, Rockcreek, Southside, Mt. Healthy, Schmitt, Clifty Creek, Smith, Richards, Parkside and CSA-Lincoln. The Parkside Pirates won last year’s championship.

Tickets are $3 for adults, $2 for students and $7 for a family pass. Fans who come to the basketball games in the morning can get their hand stamped for free admission to the afternoon cheer event, organizer Dennis Pierce said.
