Columbus Signature Academies, three magnet schools slated to open in the fall, received more than double the number of Intent to Enroll forms as there were openings for students in kindergarten through ninth grade.

Responding to local locksmiths who said city police were hurting their businesses by unlocking car doors for free, Columbus Police Department began a new policy of referring motorists locked out of their cars to locksmiths.

Columbus Fire Chief Edgar Harris asked the city for 13 additional firefighters and a work week shortened from 63 to 56 hours.
