Columbus man dies in west-side wreck

Bartholomew County Coroner Clayton Nolting said today that Patrick Neal Bowman, 35, Columbus, died at the accident scene, according to a news release. He ruled the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the chest.

Columbus Police Department is still investigating the crash.

COLUMBUS, Ind. — A wreck involving multiple vehicles on the city’s west side this evening has left one person with serious injuries, police said.

A tow truck and six vehicles total are involved, said Lt. Matt Harris, spokesman for the Columbus Police Department.

It occurred at about 7:50 p.m. in the 2300 block of State Road 46, in front of the Circle K, he added.

The eastbound lane is closed indefinitely while police and emergency responders attend to the scene. Motorists are advised to avoid the area, Harris said.
