State troopers said Lincolnton Police were investigating a report of a suspicious person around 3 p.m. Saturday when 49-year-old Edward Case took off on his motorcycle.

Troopers say Case sped down state Highway 27 while being followed by two police cars with their blue lights on. They say he was trying to pass a car on the two-lane highway when he hit the pickup truck head on.

Authorities told media outlets the collision flipped the truck, but no one in it was seriously injured.

Troopers are investigating the wreck.
