DEVILS LAKE, N.D. — More than 5,000 anglers took to the ice on Devils Lake’s Six Mile Bay on Saturday for the annual Devils Lake Volunteer Fire Department ice fishing tournament.

It’s been held for more than three decades, and it’s considered one of the biggest in the country.

WDAY-TV reports the tournament paid out about $325,000 in prizes, and it also raised more than $130,000 for the fire department. Fire Chief Jim Moe says that ultimately saves money for taxpayers.
