WARWICK, R.I. — The Community College of Rhode Island has issued an “all-clear” after telling people on campus to shelter in a locked area following a report that a man was seen on campus with a holstered weapon.
The school issued the all-clear on Twitter shortly after 1 p.m. Monday. It said no active threat was identified on its Warwick campus, and said police would remain there for the rest of the afternoon as normal activities resume.
Warwick Police Lt. James Valkoun (val-KOHN’) says they spent more than an hour searching after a student reported a suspicious person with what he thought was a holstered weapon.
The college asked students to stay in their rooms, but posted on Twitter that it was not an active shooter situation, and that the campus was calm.
