PROVIDENCE, R.I. — A Rhode Island man has pleaded guilty to killing his girlfriend, the mother of their two young children.
Attorney General Peter Kilmartin says that 34-year-old Alvin Huggins pleaded guilty Monday to stabbing Yanira Flores to death in May 2015.
He was sentenced to serve 50 years in prison, with 10 years suspended with probation, under the terms of a pela deal.
Prosecutors say Huggins stabbed Flores in the chest during an argument at their home in Woonsocket. Their children, ages 4 and 6, were home at the time.
Kilmartin says that Huggins actions left two children to grow up without their mother.
