VALLONIA
Robert J. Brewer, 90, of Vallonia, died at 6:41 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown. He was a farmer and was a Weights and Measures Inspector for 28 years. He was a member of the Brownstown Christian Church, Masonic Lodge Washington #13, Scottish Rites, Eastern Star, Democrat Central Committee and a former member of the Murat Shriners of Indianapolis. He was a graduate of Vallonia High School.
He was born on January 16, 1928 in Washington County, IN to the late Minard Robert & Nellie B. Cauble Brewer. He married Martha L. Waskom on October 4, 1952 in Vallonia and she preceded him in death on August 22, 1995. He married Winona Toby Callahan on January 17, 1998 in Brownstown and she preceded him in death on December 9, 2010. Survivors include his children, Nancy (Chris) Myers of Madison, Steve (Tina) Brewer of Vallonia and Kathy (Mark) Dove of North Vernon; 5 grandchildren, Ryan (Stephanie) Myers, Christy (Chad) Langley, Brittany (Steve) Dravyn, Michael (Aila) Brewer & Charles J. Dove; 4 great-grandchildren, Harrison Langley, Grayson, Ava Lea, and Chloe Ann Dravyn; nephews, Boyd Carson Brewer and Russell Nicholson; and a niece, Peggy Grider.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, a grandson, Jonathon Brewer, a brother, Boyd Brewer and a sister, Mary Nicholson.
Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, February 1st at 11:00 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Vallonia with Michael Hogg officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 31st from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will take place at the Vallonia Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Hoosier Christian Village Auxiliary, Jonathon Brewer Scholarship Fund and the Jennings County Community Foundation Charlie Dove.
