Deadline nears for dual language program

The application deadline is approaching for this fall’s Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. dual language program.

The program, offered at Clifty Creek Elementary School, will allow prekindergarten and kindergarten students to learn in a bilingual classroom. Under the voluntary program, students will be taught how to read and write in English and Spanish by a native Spanish speaker.

Applications for the program are available on the district’s website, bcsc.k12.in.us, and will be accepted through Feb. 5. The district plans to charge a $160 weekly fee for students interested in the pre-kindergarten program, while a reduced rate of $60 will be offered for families meeting free/reduced guidelines.

There is no fee for students enrolled in the kindergarten dual language program. Families who are accepted into the program will be notified Feb. 9.
