CHAMBLEE, Ga. — A man linked to multiple shootings at a gas station has been shot and killed by a police officer outside of Atlanta.

News outlets report the man died at the scene Sunday morning.

Chamblee Assistant Police Chief Mike Beller said in a release that police received reports of a drive-by shooting in which a man was shot in the hand, followed by reports of the suspect shooting at passing cars from a QuikTrip parking lot. Beller said the man ran and continued firing shots when officers arrived, at which point the Chamblee officer fired one shot.

The man was taken into custody before he died.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is handling the case. The deceased man’s name has not been released.
