2-year-old OK after off-road vehicle crash

JENNINGS COUNTY — A 2-year-old from Jennings County injured during a weekend off-road vehicle crash was listed in good condition Monday at an Indianapolis hospital.

Cody Kissick, 25, of Lovett, was operating a Polaris Sportsman 335 at 2:25 p.m. Sunday near Lovett, located between Vernon and Commiskey in southern Jennings County, conservation officers said.

Kissick’s 2-year-old son Caleb was sitting on the off-road vehicle in front of him when it overturned in the 4100 block of South County Road 350W and ejected both occupants, said Joshua Thomas, a spokesman for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources law enforcement division.

Neither occupant was wearing a helmet or any other protective gear at the time of the crash, Thomas said.

Kissick took the child to St. Vincent Hospital in North Vernon, from where the child was airlifted to Indiana University Health Riley Hospital in Indianapolis, where the boy was listed in good condition Monday afternoon, hospital officials said.
