PAYSON, Utah — Utah prosecutors say a Payson man was under the influence of alcohol and methamphetamine when he sparked a confrontation that led to a shootout in a neighborhood south of Provo last week.
The Desert News reports 38-year-old Travis Frkovich was charged Monday with two counts each of attempted aggravated murder and aggravated assault in connection with the Jan. 23 shooting in Payson.
The victim suffered a minor head injury and his wife was grazed by a bullet but no one was seriously hurt.
Police say Frkovich brandished a gun after accusing another man of nearly backing his truck over him.
Charging documents say they struggled over the weapon and it went off before the other man grabbed a handgun out of his truck and started firing. They ended up exchanging 15 to 20 shots from less than 15 feet.
