BURLINGTON, Vt. — Vermont residents will soon cast their vote on the arrival of F-35 fighter jets at Burlington International Airport.

Burlington City Council voted 10-2 Monday to keep the original wording of a non-binding resolution on the jets for the upcoming Town Meeting Day ballot.

More than 1,000 people signed the resolution, which asks voters to choose between stopping the jets’ arrival or allowing the jets with equipment that lowers their noise level.

WCAX-TV reports two councilors tried to change the resolution’s wording, saying it was misleading. The jets are scheduled to arrive in Vermont in 2019.

Town Meeting Day takes place March 6.
