WASHINGTON, D.C. — A spokesman says Republican Rep. Bruce Poliquin of Maine suffered a “few minor bruises” but is OK after an Amtrak train hit a truck.

The train was bringing lawmakers and aides to a policy retreat in West Virginia when the crash happened Wednesday near Charlottesville, Virginia.

The White House has confirmed there was one fatality and one serious injury. Amtrak said no members of Congress or congressional staff members on the train were hurt.

Poliquin Spokesman Brendan Conley confirmed that the congressman was among those on the train.

Lawmakers are heading to their annual legislative retreat at the Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
