PHOENIX — A maintenance man accused of stealing $10,000 worth of jewelry from seven people at an assisted living facility in Mesa has been sentenced to 2 ½ years in prison.

State prosecutors say Arthur Michael Sesate also was sentenced to seven years of probation.

They say the 24-year-old Sesate admitted to stealing the jewelry because he was addicted to opioids.

Authorities say a resident of the Fellowship Square Senior Living Facility discovered her diamond engagement ring was missing in January 2017 and notified management.

Other residents also discovered they were missing jewelry from their apartments.

Authorities say Sesate was a maintenance man at the facility and had a master key that allowed him to enter the apartments.

Authorities say Sesate pawned the jewelry and used the money to buy drugs.
