Frances Anna Gastineau

Frances Anna Gastineau passed from this life surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Garden Villa, where she had resided since 2010. She was in hospice care.

Frances was born April 16, 1924 in Stickney Village, Illinois. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Emily Doruska (Servany).

She married Glen E. Gastineau on May 1, 1941. They were married 55 years and resided in Bloomington. Upon retirement, they lived in Eufaula, Alabama for six months of the year. Her husband preceded her in death in 1996. On February 21, 1999, she married James E. Purser of Ozark, Alabama. He preceded her in death in 2003.

Frances was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Midland City, Alabama; a member of VFW Auxiliary in Bloomington, where she enjoyed making lap blankets and turbans for cancer patients; and a member of Unionville Senior Citizens in Unionville, Indiana.

She loved family, fishing, bingo, crafts, sewing, square dancing, and working puzzles.

Survivors include daughters, Sandy Staley (Tom), Ramona Richardson (Marvin); a son, Glen Gastineau II (Patricia); stepdaughters, Kay Smith (Jerry) of Ozark, Alabama, Judy Yeoman (Joe) of Dothan, Alabama; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Emily Docekal (Frank), Delores Gastineau (Dane); and a daughter, Patricia Ewing.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 S. Old State Road 37, Bloomington, IN 47401, with Pastor Scott Branam officiating. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.

Friends may visit from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2018 and again from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
