Ready for Grubby? Groundhog Day today

HOPE — It’s Groundhog Day, and the fun starts at 8:30 a.m. today in Hope.

Grubby the groundhog, with handler Kathy Hershey of Utopia Wildlife Rehabilitators, is the main attraction. But for the first time, the Hauser High School Band will perform during the ceremony in front of the Hope Town Square bandstand.

Everyone is invited to attend, with light refreshments served afterward at the Willow Leaves restaurant.

Later today, Grubby has private appearances scheduled at Hope Elementary School and Just Friends Adult Day Care Services, located within Mill Race Center in Columbus.

Ceremonial request made during the annual Groundhog Day celebration in the Hope Town Square.

”Grubby — awake from your slumber and tell us the news. If your shadow you see, six more weeks of the blues. If no shadow in sight, then we shall rejoice. Spring will be soon. Oh, tell us your choice.”
