BARNARDSVILLE, N.C. — A sheriff’s deputy in North Carolina has shot and wounded a person after responding to a domestic disturbance.
Buncombe County Sheriff Van Duncan said in a news release that officers were called to the town of Barnardsville around 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
The news release says officers encountered an armed person in a road near the home. Duncan said a deputy got out of the car and challenge the person, then shot him.
The person was taken to Mission Hospital in Asheville. There was no word on the person’s condition.
The officer was not hurt.
The names and races of those involved have not been released.
The State Bureau of Investigation is handling the case.
Barnardsville is about 15 miles (25 kilometers) northeast of Asheville.
