Caroline ‘Sue’ Eaglen

Caroline “Sue” Eaglen, 76, of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 1:26 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2018 at her home.

Sue was born January 28, 1942, in Bartholomew County, Indiana, the loving daughter of George and Alpha Crockett Vanarsdale. She married Thomas E. Eaglen January 9, 1971. He preceded her in death December 11, 2014.

Sue worked in technical maintenance at Cummins Engine Company for 43 years, retiring in 2017.

She enjoyed camping and getting her nails done.

Sue is survived by her son, Blake Eaglen of Columbus, Indiana; daughters, Daphne (James) Mace of Columbus, Indiana, Tyra (Jason) Taylor of Columbus, Indiana, and Teresa (Jim) Bell of Columbus, Indiana; grandchildren, Josh (Bridgette) Bell, Joe Bell, Jimmy Bell, Derrick Huber, Dalton Mace, Brooklyn Eaglen, Whitney Mace, David Morris, Cody Morris, Jenna Eaglen, Madison Eaglen, Keigan Steel, and Paige Taylor; a great-grandson, Davin Morris; a sister, Dorothy Michaels of Brown County, Indiana; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas; and brothers, Bobby, Bill, and George “Cricket” Vanarsdale.

Sue’s family would like to thank Kathy and Courtney and the staff from Our Hospice and Mickey Pickett and Dorothy Michaels for the special care they gave to Sue.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Raymond Dupree officiating.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Sue will be laid to rest next to her husband at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
