Flora Lou Henry passed from this life at 4:10 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Flora was born October 11, 1922, in Jackson County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Leander and Lydia Bingham.

She married Virgil R. Henry on June 12, 1948. He preceded her in death January 12, 1992.

During World War II, she worked in Connersville, manufacturing gas masks for the war. More recently she worked as a nurse’s aide at Columbus Regional Hospital before retiring in 1979.

She enjoyed keeping up with current events and listening to the ‘fussy guys’ (cable news). She liked working word scrambles and listening to gospel music.

She was a founding member of Clifford Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, 3855 25th St., Columbus, with the Rev. Steve Whitsitt and Pastor Tim Cox officiating. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Flora will be laid to rest next to her husband at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, Parkinson’s Foundation or Autism Speaks.

She is survived by her sons, Roger (Debbie) Henry, Larry (Glenda) Henry and Mike (Sandy) Henry, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Rachel (Richard) Chantler, Nathan Henry, Kevin Henry, Ryan Henry, Hunter (Donna) Henry, Brandon (Kayla) Henry and Hayley (Tim) Cox; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Jean Stowell and Beatrice Whitsitt, along with many nieces and nephews. She had many loving friends, including Yvonne McPeek and Sandy Whitted.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil; brothers, Calloway Bingham, Harrison Bingham and Willie Bingham; and her sister, Dorothy Ward.
