TAUNTON, Mass. — Authorities say one person has died in a fire at a three-story Taunton home.

The fire was reported at about 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Fire Capt. Tim Bradshaw says firefighters kicked in the front door and evacuated eight people, including two children but an adult male was found inside and was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

The victim’s name was not released pending an autopsy and notification of family.

The cause remains under investigation but Bradshaw says it started on the third floor.

The home is considered a total loss and displaced residents are being helped by the Red Cross.
