BEATRICE, Neb. — Authorities have released the identity of a man who died after his pickup truck crashed into a semitrailer truck on a snowy highway in southeast Nebraska earlier this week.

The Gage County Sheriff’s office says 66-year-old John Scheuler of Diller died Wednesday morning in the crash about three miles east of Odell.

Scheuler’s truck crossed the center line and collided with a semitrailer truck driver by 39-year-old Robert Brackett of Omaha.

The crash happened on Highway 112 which was partly covered with snow. The bed of the pickup truck was sheared off when it was struck by the semi.
