Robert D. Owens

Robert D. Owens, 72, of Columbus, was called home, completing his life journey on Monday, Feb. 5, at Our Hospice of South central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Bob was born June 22, 1945 in Greensburg, Indiana, the son of Carl and Mary (Lowe) Owens.

Bob is survived by his wife, Nina (Southern) Owens.

Bob worked several years at Reeves Pully. He was later a tradesman in the construction field.

He was a lifelong race fan, especially in the world of Outlaw Sprints.

More importantly, he was “a true friend.”

Bob’s wishes were met with the IU Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, School of Medicine.

A private celebration of Bob’s faith-filled life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Bob is survived by his wife, Nina; a son, Todd Robert (Heather) Owens of Gilbert, Arizona; and stepdaughter, Jennifer Wilson of Columbus.

Bob was a brother to Charlotte (Timothy) Grote of Newnan, Ga., Dan Owens (Milton) of Lake City, S.C., Vickie (Dan) Hall of Columbus; and Teresa (Kenny-Morgan) Hooten of Greensburg.

He is also survived by grandchildren, Calvin, Grant, and Drew Owens of Gilbert, Arizona, and Jacob Wilson of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Chad Owens; grandchild, Emma Grace Owens of Gilbert, Arizona, and Brittany Wilson of Columbus.
