Sandra Lee Foster Houze

PLAINS, TEXAS

Sandra Lee Foster Houze went peacefully to her Lord on February 4, 2018, at home in Plains, Texas.

Sandra was born on the Fourth of July, 1936 in Seymour, Indiana, to Ralph and Mary Foster. She always believed the fireworks were just for her.

Sandra graduated in 1954 from North Vernon.

Valentine’s Day 1955, her true adventure started. She married her true love, Maurice Houze. For 54 years the walked every road, smooth or bumpy, together. Hand in hand.

Sandra began her professional career in finance as a secretary at First Savings in Odessa, Texas and retired in 2000 as senior vice president of Investors Mortgage Corp.

Sandra and Mo were members of Antioch Christian Church for 30 years and later Crossroads Fellowship.

Upon moving to Plains, Texas, she became a member of Hillside Church of Christ.

Sandra had a love for teaching. Through the years she taught children’s church, children’s Sunday school, youth groups, adult Sunday school and “the old timers” class. She was involved in ladies ministries and small groups.

Sandra had the gift of laughter and storytelling. She LOVED spending time with her friend’s playing cards, eating out together, and sharing life together.

Sandra and Mo had three kids, nine grandkids and 13 great-grandkids. Her greatest joy was her family. She was faithful to encourage and pray for each one of them.

Faith in Christ sustained Sandra through her life and was the faith that upheld her.

Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Houze; grandson, Brady Houze; and brothers, Jon Foster and David Foster. She is survived by her sister, Kay Foster and husband, Phil; her son, Dan Houze and wife, Kim; her son, Bill Houze and wife, Robin; her daughter, Mary Kay Barnes and husband, Steve; her precious grandchildren, Cheri Lujan and husband, Josh, Chris Gscheidle and wife, Megan, Nicky Gscheidle, Jared Houze and wife, Ericka, Jake Houze and wife, Chelsey, Cassidy Houze, Carson Houze and Landon Houze, her great-grandchildren, Nate, Vic, Alezae, Elias, X-Zavion, Ariella and, Aziel Lujan, Ethan and Emily Gscheidle, Simon, Jude and Libby Houze, and Addy Houze. Sandra had many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 1 p.m. until time of service at 3 p.m. p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery.
