BERKSHIRE, Vt. — Vermont police say a farm worker was run over and killed by a bucket loader machine while arriving to work.

Berkshire police say 57-year-old James Davio, of Newport, had just arrived to work around 6 a.m. Thursday when he was run over by the farm machine. WCAX-TV reports authorities say the machine operator, 22-year-old Jaime St. Pierre, didn’t see Davio.

First responders pronounced Davio dead at the scene.

The large dairy farm is owned and operated by the St. Pierre family, who declined to comment.

Vermont State Police and state Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials were investigating Thursday.
