COLUMBUS, Indiana — Four Columbus residents were arrested on drug-related charges and warrants after police responded to a report of suspicious activity in the area of Owens Bend County Park.
Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department deputy Matt Bush and K9 Diesel were sent to the park area north of Columbus at 5 p.m. Friday and found four people later identified as Michael Ames, Troy Cowan, Carrie England and Kaleigh Stogdill, according to the sheriff’s department.
Bush discovered there were eight warrants out among the four. Also, the deputy walked Diesel around the vehicle and he alerted to narcotics. A search of the vehicle found four syringes belonging to Cowan, who was also in possession of a methamphetamine pipe, the department said.
Among the suspects, the department said:
- Ames, 35, swallowed methamphetamine and was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for clearance and later taken to the Bartholomew County jail for false informing, four warrants and obstruction of justice. He was held on a $67,900 bond.
- England, 23, was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and was apprehended on those charges. She was held on a bond of $57,500.
- Cowan, 28, was arrested on a charge of possession of syringe and paraphernalia, for which bond was set at $57,500. He was also held on two warrants related to domestic battery charges, and held without bond on both.
- Stogdill, 26, was arrested on two forgery and theft warrants, and held without bond.
