COLUMBUS
Shirley “Cletus” Smith, 91, of Columbus, died at 9:30 p.m., February 5, 2018, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Shirley was born July 11, 1926, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of Edmund and Rose Lalond Arseneau.
She married William D. Smith; he preceded her in death January 10, 1996.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, February 12, 2018, at Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. David Brown officiating. Calling will be 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Hickory Creek at Columbus or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Survivors include her children, Melinda (Jim) Arthur of Beaverton, Oregon, Dennis (Tricia) Smith of Florissant, Missouri, Rebecca Wright of Florida, Douglas (Linda) Smith of Williamsburg, Virginia, Laurie (Kevin) Shafer of Westport, Barbara (William) Dixon of Columbus, and Lisa Andry of Shelbyville; a sister, Marlys Lange of Columbus; and 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; sisters, Daceille Kirk and Wayne Vasseur, and a brother, Virgil Arseneau; and a great-grandson, Charlie Houchin.
