Youth Flag Football registration finishing

Columbus Youth Flag Football registration will conclude from 1 to 3 p.m. today next to Dunham’s at the Fair Oaks Mall.

Cost is $100 per player. The season runs from March through May.

Icemen hockey event will benefit veterans

The Columbus Icemen will host the Hockey For Heroes Tournament Saturday and Feb. 18 at Hamilton Community Center and Ice Arena to support the military and veterans and raise money for the Wounded Warriors Organization.

The Icemen will play Northern Kentucky at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Evansville at 8:45 p.m. Saturday and Carmel Blue at 10:20 a.m. Feb. 18. The third- and fourth-place teams will play at 1 p.m. Feb. 18, followed by the first- and second-place teams at 2:45 p.m.

There will be a special guest and presentation at 3:30 p.m. Saturday and a raffle for an autographed copy of “Hidden Wounds: A Soldier’s Burden” written by Maj. Nate Brookshire. There also will be a a chili cook-off from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday and a bake sale throughout the day, with proceeds going to the “Wish For Our Heroes” organization.

Scipio Baseball leagues planning signup day

Scipio Baseball signups will conclude from noon to 2 p.m. Feb. 18 at Scipio Firehouse.

There will be leagues for boys and girls from ages 4 to 12, and age ranges will be divided as signup numbers allow. Registration is $20 for the first player and $15 for each additional player in the same household.

Public invited to free talk by Indians announcer

Howard Kellman, the play-by-play announcer for the Indianapolis Indians the past 42 years, will give a free lecture, “Humorous Side of Sports,” at 2 p.m. Feb. 27 at Four Seasons Retirement Community, 1901 Taylor Rd.

The public is invited, and those planning to attend should RSVP to 812-372-8481 by Feb. 23.

Ceraland taking signups for youth baseball

Ceraland is taking youth baseball signups for the 2018 season through March 2 for online and March 3 for walk-ins. March 3 is evaluation day.

Cost is $45 to $80, depending on the age group. April 30 is the age cutoff date, and players with birthdays between May 1 and Aug. 31 have the option of playing up a division.

‘March Mayhem’ event coming to fairgrounds

Hoosier Pro Wrestling will host “March Mayhem” at 7:45 p.m. March 3 at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Tickets are $12 for adults and free for kids 4 and younger. Doors open at 7 p.m.
