BOSTON — Boston police say two teenagers crossing a city street with friends have been struck by a car after the driver lost control for unknown reasons. One of the teens was critically injured.
Police Commissioner William Evans says four teens were in a crosswalk in the city’s Roxbury section when a boy and a girl were hit by a car shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday. The car then crashed into a utility pole. One of the teens became trapped under the vehicle.
The teens and the driver were taken to hospitals. Officials say one of the teens is in critical condition and the other suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Evans says police aren’t sure if a medical problem or distracted driving was the cause. The accident is under investigation.
