SALT LAKE CITY — Clinton police are investigating a shooting in northern Utah that left one man dead.

Police say the shooting occurred on Monday night in Clinton, a city southwest of Ogden.

Witnesses told police they heard four to eight gunshots and saw several vehicles fleeing the area with their lights off.

Clinton police Lt. Shawn Stoker says officers later found a man in his early 20s dead in his vehicle.

Police believe the victim may have been injured earlier during the shooting.

They have not released his identity pending notification of his family.

As of Tuesday, no suspects were in custody, but Stoker says they have identified people who may have been involved or witnessed the shooting.
