BALTIMORE — Maryland police are searching for a person connected to the 2016 slaying of a teacher’s aide.

The Baltimore Sun reports the Baltimore Police Department released video footage of the sought man on Tuesday. Police say he had been seen the morning after the killing near where 41-year-old Latrina Ashburne was shot to death. The video shows a bald man wearing a dark shirt and shorts with white sneakers walking down a sidewalk near Nurton and Woodland avenues.

The newspaper reports federal prosecutors have suggested Ashburne was not the real target. Davon Carter, of Parkville, was charged in December with preventing a witness from testifying and intending “to retaliate against a witness for providing a law enforcement officer with information relating to the commission and possible commission of a federal offense.”
