BURRILLVILLE, R.I. — Authorities have released the identity of a Rhode Island firefighter who was killed while battling a house fire.

Fire officials say 72-year-old Lt. Richard Jenks collapsed while fighting the chimney fire in Burrillville on Wednesday morning.

Jenks was taken to Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, where he was pronounced dead.

Officials say Jenks was a firefighter for the Pascaog Fire Department for 33 years.

Deputy Chief Keith Carter says the department is asking for people to say prayers for his family, children and grandchildren.

No other injuries were reported. The fire was extinguished.
