Clayton Hyden, 82, of Columbus, died at 10:20 p.m. February 9, 2018 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Mr. Hyden was born April 22, 1935 in Mount Victory, Kentucky to the late Luther and Nannie Whitis Hyden.
He married Janice A. Arnett Hyden, September 19, 1958, who survives.
Mr. Hyden was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
He loved to garden, work with wood and be outdoors.
Mr. Hyden is survived by his wife; a son, Steven J. (Kimberly) Hyden of Columbus; two daughters, Sherri L. (Randy) Pumphrey of Columbus, Lisa K. (Michael) Thayer of Columbus; four grandchildren, Ian Pumphrey, Breanna England, Kyla Ramirez, Bryce Hyden; three step-grandchildren, Robbie Leffler, Ryan Leffler and Raegan (Riley) Shroyer; four great-grandchildren, Gabriel Pumphrey, Triston Filson, Christel Ramirez and Winston Hyden; four step-great-grandchildren, Makenna England, Liam England, Emory Leffler and Nora Leffler; two brothers, Eddie Hyden and Levon Hyden of Kentucky; four sisters, Susan Mize, Sharon Hyden and Gatha Hyden of Kentucky and Beulah Janes of New York.
Mr. Hyden was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Vermont Hyden, Lewis Hyden, Gerald Hyden and Clemont Hyden.
Calling will be 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Dan McCullough officiating. Interment will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.
