A driver who failed to stop for a Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputy was arrested on a preliminary charge of felony resisting law enforcement by fleeing in a vehicle.
Deputy Sgt. Kris Weisner was traveling north on U.S. 31 approaching Henry Lakes Boulevard at 1:40 a.m. Wednesday when he saw a black Saturn traveling eastbound on Henry Lakes Boulevard before turning south on U.S. 31, deputies said. The driver failed to yield at the stop sign at the intersection, Weisner said.
Weisner turned around to stop the Saturn when it abruptly turned on to County Road 600N and turned off its headlights, deputies said. The vehicle then turned south on to U.S. 31 near West Lewis Place where Weisner again attempted to stop the vehicle.
The Saturn slowed but did not stop, deputies said. The driver, later identified as Jonathan Paul Gamble, 33, 6817 Bonesteel Drive, waved at Weisner but continued through two more stop signs without stopping, deputies said. Weisner then used his public address system and ordered the driver to stop, deputies said.
Gamble then drove into a driveway on Bonesteel Drive and left the vehicle deputies said.
K9 Bolt was sent after Gamble as Weisner ordered Gamble to stop, deputies said. Gamble complied, but was described as extremely uncooperative, deputies said.
Indiana State Police Trooper Derrik Eggers arrived to assist Weisner and Gamble was taken into custody, but continued to yell and argue as he was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail, deputies said.
Gamble is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $7,500 bond, jail officials said.
