WALHALLA, S.C. — A South Carolina man has been accused of fatally shooting an Oconee County homeowner.

The Anderson Independent-Mail reports the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has obtained warrants for 24-year-old Tyler Mark Broome on charges including murder and entering a premises after warning. Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis says 63-year-old Robert Steven McDowell died Wednesday from gunshot wound complications.

A Wednesday release from the sheriff’s office says McDowell held Broome at gunpoint after discovering him on his property early Wednesday, and both men were subsequently shot. Addis says the two were treated at a hospital, and McDowell died hours later.

It’s unclear if Broome has a lawyer or if he suffered any injuries.
