CHESTERFIELD, Va. — Authorities say former a PTA official in Virginia has been charged with embezzling roughly $7,000 while another has been considered a fugitive.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports Chesterfield police Capt. G.L. Netherland says 33-year-old Christina Saunders was charged Feb. 6 with embezzling from the Matoaca Elementary School PTA, and that Chesterfield prosecutor Robert J. Fierro Jr. says 40-year-old Jessica L. Yeakey is a fugitive after skipping her Jan. 25 court date.

Police say Yeakey was charged in March 2017 with three embezzlement counts. She was the Elizabeth Scott Elementary School PTA treasurer when roughly $3,000 were allegedly stolen from the PTA.

Police say Saunders was the Matoaca PTA president. She was released on an unsecured bond after surrendering to police.

It is unclear if the women have lawyers.
