Indiana’s governor, state officials and lawmakers are receiving a one-day tutorial today on Columbus’ efforts to align its educational system to workforce needs, a process the state is considering for possible roll-out as a “best practice” on a wider scale.
The 45-member delegation hosted by the Community Education Coalition at the Columbus Learning Center includes Gov. Eric Holcomb, former LaPorte Mayor Blair Milo who was recently appointed the state’s secretary of career connections and talent and Teresa Lubbers, Indiana Commissioner for Higher Education.
Also attending is Fred Payne, commissioner for the state’s Department of Workforce Development, and lawmakers representing education committees from the Statehouse.
Holcomb is in the midst of a three-day workforce development tour around Indiana which continues through Monday.
