Scipio Baseball leagues planning signup day

Scipio Baseball signups will conclude from noon to 2 p.m. today at Scipio Firehouse. There will be leagues for boys and girls from ages 4 to 12, and age ranges will be divided as signup numbers allow. Registration is $20 for the first player and $15 for each additional player in the same household.

Girls slowpitch softball signups ready to begin

Bartholomew County girls slowpitch softball signups will be from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Feb. 25 and March 3 and 4 at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds office building. Cost is $35, check or cash, due at registration.

There will be leagues for ages 6 to 8, 9 to 12 and 13 to 18. Games will be played Tuesdays and Thursdays from May through August at Dunn Stadium.

Boys can try out for AAU basketball team

Tryouts for a fifth-, sixth- and seventh-grade AAU boys basketball team will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 25 at Columbus East High School.

Public invited to free talk by Indians announcer

Howard Kellman, the play-by-play announcer for the Indianapolis Indians the past 42 years, will give a free lecture, “Humorous Side of Sports,” at 2 p.m. Feb. 27 at Four Seasons Retirement Community, 1901 Taylor Rd.

Youth Flag Football to host Spring Camp

The Columbus Youth Flag Football League Spring Camp will be March 26 to 29 at the Eighth Street Park across from the senior center. Mite-mites (Grades pre-kindergarten and first) will be from 5:30 to 6 p.m., and Juniors and Seniors (Grades 2 through 8) will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

All regular-season games and practices will be Sunday afternoons at Central Middle School. Registration will continue from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 27 and March 1, 9 a.m. to noon March 3, noon to 3 p.m. March 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. March 6 at Fair Oaks Mall next to Dunham’s.

Ceraland taking signups for youth baseball

Ceraland is taking youth baseball signups for the 2018 season through March 2 for online and March 3 for walk-ins. March 3 is evaluation day.

Cost is $45 to $80, depending on the age group. April 30 is the age cutoff date, and players with birthdays between May 1 and Aug. 31 have the option of playing up a division.

‘March Mayhem’ event coming to fairgrounds

Hoosier Pro Wrestling will host “March Mayhem” at 7:45 p.m. March 3 at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Tickets are $12 for adults and free for kids 4 and younger. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Adults can sign up for summer softball leagues

Columbus Softball Association adult summer league singups will be from 1 to 4 p.m. March 4, 10 and 11 at the Hamilton Center. There will be leagues for men, women, coed, church, 40-and-over and 60-and-over. Cost is a $315 sponsor fee, plus a $300 team player fee for men’s, women’s, coed and church leagues and $37 per player for the 40-and-over and 60-and-over leagues.
