Columbus Pride street closing OK’d

Staff Reports

A Columbus Signature Academy-New Tech student is planning a Columbus Pride event in downtown Columbus this spring as her senior project.

Erin Bailey received approval from the Columbus Board of Works on Tuesday to close Fourth Street between Jackson and Washington streets from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 14 for the event.

Bailey told the board she plans to have multiple vendors and organizations along the street providing information and support to the LGBT community during the event.

She is reaching out to groups that support the LGBT community locally and in Indianapolis, including Circle City Pride in Indianapolis, to be part of the event, she said.

Bailey said she had contacted businesses along Fourth Street as part of her application process for the road closing and did not receive any negative responses to the event.
