Flood warnings issued through weekend

Flood warnings have been issued for three rivers in the Columbus area, said Shannan Hinton, director of Bartholomew County Emergency Management.

According to Hinton:

  • A warning is in place for East Fork White River at Columbus from this morning to late Sunday night, with minor flooding forecast. The river is expected to rise above flood stage by late this morning and continue to rise to near 9.7 feet by Saturday evening, above the 9-foot flood stage. The river will fall below flood stage by Sunday afternoon.
  • A warning continues for the Flatrock River near Columbus from Saturday morning to late Sunday night, with minor flooding forecast. The river is expected to rise above the 11-foot flood stage by Saturday morning and continue to rise to near 11.8 feet early Sunday before receding Sunday evening.
  • A warning continues for the Driftwood River near Edinburgh through Monday evening, with minor flooding forecast. The river is expected to rise to near 12.8 feet by Saturday morning, above the 11-foot flood level, before receding below flood stage by Monday morning.
