Man accused of raping teen

SCOTT COUNTY — Indiana State Police have arrested a North Vernon man on several charges related to the rape of a 15-year-old Scott County girl.

Jon W. Anthony, 19, of North Vernon, was arrested Friday on charges of rape when compelled by force or imminent threat of force, two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor and sexual battery when the victim is compelled to submit by force or imminent threat of force, Indiana State Police said.

Indiana State Police detective Brian Busick received information from the Scott County Department of Child Services and was told of the allegation of the Feb. 7 encounter and sexual misconduct involving the girl and Anthony, state police said.

The incident happened at the victim’s residence in Scott County after Anthony agreed to meet the 15-year-old at her home to do beautician work on her hair, state police said. When Anthony arrived, he said he forgot the materials needed to work on the victim’s hair but stayed at the residence and is accused of forcing himself on the 15-year-old, state police said.

The two had met and became friends on social media, state police said.

Anthony was being held at the Scott County Jail without bond, state police said.
