Prep sports roundup – February 24

GREENSBURG — South Decatur lost more than a basketball game Friday night. The Cougars lost their leading scorer and rebounder a week before they were to begin sectional play.

Matt Cornett went up for a dunk midway through the first quarter to give the Cougars a 10-2 lead against visiting Knightstown. But he came down on both wrists, breaking at least one. The other wrist was being X-rayed late Friday night.

South Decatur still led 16-10 after one quarter and 25-23 at halftime, but the Panthers rallied in the second half for a 66-62 victory.

Lane Lauderbaugh led the Cougars (4-19) with 30 points. Jacob Watts added 10.
