Bill Gelfius, Justin Gelfius and Steve Bennett of Hartsville, were honored as Red Gold Master Growers at Red Gold’s 27th Annual Grower’s Banquet in Indianapolis.
The three received their seventh Master Grower Award and were presented with a Red Gold plaque.
The Master Grower Award is bestowed each year to recipients who have distinguished themselves by delivering quality production and exhibiting professionalism and industry leadership. All growers for Red Gold have had training on good production practices, employee safety and human resources, according to a statement.
This year’s production from Gelfius Farms would account for over 6 million cans of Red Gold whole, diced, stewed, and specialty tomato products, the company said.
Elwood, Indiana-based Red Gold is the leading tomato processor in the Midwest and specializes in high quality tomato products for markets in all 48 continental states and many foreign countries, according to a statement.
